Welcome to my crypto blog! I’ve got a lengthy career in accounting and finance, a lot curiosity about technology and the future of money, and an ounce of talent for writing and publishing. I’m here to add a San Diego voice to the fascinating, hilarious, occasionally hostile, and constantly growing conversation about crypto.
I’m in the process of listening to every episode to date of the What Is Money podcast by Robert Breedlove, and I will consider that to be my academic credentials. Today I was listening to an episode with Jeff Booth, and he (Jeff Booth) had some inspiring words. In something of a rough transcription/paraphrase, he said, “Ideas are free. It’s only in the hard test of trying to get that idea into action, that you see, ‘Did it work?’, ‘Did it not work?’, and everything else… I always have underestimated the benefit that accrues from taking that risk… That benefit has come in relationships, curiosity, learning, and everything else…”
My idea is to help other explore, enjoy, and benefit from learning about crytpo and defi. And the crypto space seems like a prime area to reap the benefits of “relationships, curiosity, learning, and everything else”. I lived through the 90s, and this feels like the internet in 1995. I want to get in on the ground floor, even if that means I’m in way over my head.
Putting it into action is difficult, but I am already learning.
As an example, even just naming a blog is hard. I’m currently between Coin Diego, and San Diego Crypto Times. There might be a better name I can come up with in time, but either of those are good enough for now, and certainly better than Weasel Finance. Fun fact, you will be able to find this blog by going to www.weaselfinance.com, until sometime in March 2023.
The name was a placeholder, because I wanted to get going with this blogging endeavor, but thinking of a name is virtually impossible. Nothing came to me for, literally, weeks, and I decided that it is was important to just move forward and start learning how to blog. So I made a list of whimsical-sounding animals and objects, and combined them with broadly financial words, and after finding my favorites and checking domain availability (as well as blog/Twitter precedent), Weasel Finance was there.
A few weeks later, I decided that leveraging my location in San Diego would be a good way to get somewhere in this space, whereas leveraging weasels could present an unnecessary challenge.
So, long story short, my blog and my idea are works very much in progress. I hope to connect and learn here all along, while providing entertainment, if not information! Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy!
